Dr. Master Matlhaope, recently visited Liberia at the invitation of the Association of Evangelicals of Liberia (AEL), in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration between the continental evangelical body and its Liberian counterpart. Upon his arrival, Dr. Matlhaope was warmly received by AEL President Bishop Robert S.M. Bimba alongside other leaders of the alliance.

Speaking to the press, Dr. Matlhaope described the visit as both a personal joy and a reflection of the biblical call to Christian fellowship. Discussions during the visit focused on evangelism, governance, leadership development, advocacy, peacebuilding, and humanitarian response.

A key highlight of the visit was Dr. Matlhaope’s participation as keynote speaker during the Official Induction and Thanksgiving Ceremony of the new AEL leadership, held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the Voice of Pentecost Compassion Center in Congo Town. He reminded the body of Christ in Liberia that believers are the representatives of God, the creator of everything good, for the good of man. Dr. Matlhaope also noted that Christians have long embraced a theology that Church is all about spirituality, and that we would need to deconstruct this theology, bringing in holistic solutions and solve societal needs that include physical, economic and educational. He encouraged Liberian Christians to make use of their natural resources including their great forests for medicine and other benefits. The AEA SG also emphasized that it is the church and not the government that should take the lead in coming up with solutions for the nation and consequently transform Liberia.

AEL President Bishop Robert S.M.
