A delegation of Burundian Baptist ministers paid a courtesy call to the headquarters of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA) on 27th July 2026. The ministers were in Kenya for an engagement with Nairobi Chapel, one of the churches affiliated with the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK) and, by extension, AEA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the visiting leaders was the General Secretary of the Association of Evangelicals in Burundi (AEB), Pastor Edmund Gakiza, who expressed his deepest appreciation to AEA during a time of devotion. The delegation led AEA staff in songs of praise to God, creating a spirit of warm fellowship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pastor Canesius Nakumuryango, Seniro Pastor of Kinama Baptist Church, also part of the delegation, delivered a message on the subject of faith; encouraging believers to hold on to faith in order to achieve the impossible. He urged attendees to keep believing, asking, seeking and knocking, while reminding them of the power, protection and presence of the Lord even in difficult times, for He has indeed overcome the world. The ministers also visited Africa International University (AIU), where they enjoyed a fruitful time of fellowship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to Afroscope, AEA\u2019s Media Outlet, Pastor Edmund shared on the programs including women empowerment initiatives, emphasis on bringing up children in the right way and generally bringing holistic development for the transformation of communities and societies. AEB\u2019s General Secretary also emphasized that the organization is keen on fostering unity among church denominations in line with the holy scriptures in the book of John 17:21 \u2013\u201cThat all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.\u201d He added that the heart of AEB is to see all believers in Burundi coming together and progressing the work of the gospel. AEB goes beyond its registered membership to reach out to non-registered churches to be part of a revolutionary theological training of Christian leaders, a move that Pastor Gakiza says will deal with the high number of untrained pastors who lead Burundian congregations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In just three years of existence, the Association of Evangelicals in Burundi, one of the newest alliances of AEA, brings together thirty-three different church denominations across the nations, serving thousands of local churches. The organization continues to empower pastors and other church leaders through quality theological training. Advocacy for the church in Burundi and support Christians throughout the nation, is in the heart of the alliance.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
