NAIROBI, Kenya, May 13, 2026 – The Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA) announces the appointment and commissioning of its Vice President, Bishop Never Muparutsa, as the Global President of the African Forum on Religion and Government (AFReG). The commissioning took place during the AFReG 5 Convention held in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The commissioning was presided over by His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria and patron of AFReG. It served as a focal point of the African Diaspora Christian Conference (ADCC), which gathered continental and diaspora leaders under the theme: “Building Bridges to Oneness, Prosperity, and Generosity.”
Leading Holistic Transformation
AFReG is a premier movement dedicated to mobilizing African leaders of integrity to transform the continent through God-centered values. By bridging the gap between government, business, education, and the Church, AFReG fosters holistic development for “Global Africa”—encompassing both the continent and its vast diaspora.
The forum’s strategic mandate focuses on four pillars:
- Contextual Spirituality: Cultivating deep, African-rooted faith among leaders.
- Ethical Leadership: Advancing moral governance founded on biblical principles.
- Holistic Development: Promoting comprehensive progress across all sectors of society.
- Advocacy: Championing religious freedom, peace, and democratic stability.
A Synergy of Vision

Bishop Muparutsa’s new role marks a significant convergence between AEA’s mission and AFReG’s transformational agenda. As the continental body for evangelical alliances, AEA sees this appointment as a catalyst for deeper collaboration in values-based governance and integral mission.
According to the Secretary General of AEA, Dr. Master Matlhaope, “The appointment of Bishop Muparutsa strengthens AEA’s vision to equip Christ-centered leaders who can influence every sphere of society with integrity.”
He added that this new development not only expands AEA’s influence, but also presents potential for strategic engagement and collaboration with like-minded organizations towards the realization of “The Africa God Wants.”
About the Convention
The AFReG 5 Convention, held from April 29 to May 1, 2026, drew delegates from Africa, the Caribbean, North America, Latin America, and Europe. The gathering reinforced strategic partnerships across health, education, and business sectors to drive community transformation.
The AEA extends its warmest congratulations to Bishop Muparutsa, wishing him wisdom and favor as he assumes this global leadership mandate to serve the body of Christ and the wider African community.
