Le Dr Matlhaope fait l'éloge du très honorable Raila Odinga

On behalf of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA), I convey deepest condolences to the family of Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga and the nation of Kenya. Mr. Odinga was a true patriot and a leader. I’m sure he has raised equally patriotic successors, to ensure the nation’s future, economic and political stability despite differences. I have seen Mr. Odinga once or twice rising to the occasion just when the nation’s survival was at stake. I have also seen him rising to a typical leadership task, where he protected and embraced the young, even overlooking their vaingloriousness and braggadocio. Such are marks of a true leader. I have also heard about the immensity of his contribution to the modern Kenyan freedom and democracy. He has my respect for putting the stability of the country first in the mentioned observed instances. He was opposed, misinterpreted and criticized in those instances. Such is common to every leader.

I also salute the incumbent President for discernment and magnanimity for having reached out to him in his twilight days to honor and accord him due respect. This is honorable, blessed and demonstrative of mature leadership by the president, and he, the President shall be remembered for that. May the soul of this enigmatic and iconic Kenyan-States man rest in peace. And may God keep Kenya stable and prosperous. May the nation’s diversity never serve to divide but to unite.

May the soul of Mr. Raila Amolo Odinga rest in peace.

Dr. Matlhaope, MO. Secretary General, Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA).
