Dr. Master Oboletswe Matlhaope Appointed As Chancellor Of Africa International University

The Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Master Oboletswe Matlhaope as the new Chancellor of the Africa International University (AIU). Dr. Matlhaope, is currently serving as the AEA Secretary General, and brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to Christian education and leadership development in Africa.
Africa International University is a chartered Christian University. It was started as Nairobi Evangelical School of Theology (NEGST) in 1983 by the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA). AIU was awarded a Charter in 2011 and has since been recognized by The Commission for University Education (CUE) as offering quality and impactful education. The University has cutting edge PhD programs in different Schools that include; School of Business and economics (SBE), School of Education, Art and Social Sciences (SEAS), Institute for the Study of African Realities (ISAR) and Nairobi Evangelical School of Theology (NEGST. The University has variety of hubs such as The Corporate Governance Centre, Public Policy and Administration, The Environmental Health and Governance (EHAG) Centre, Leadership and Public Governance, Entrepreneurship and Gender Empowerment Centre.
Dr. Matlhaope’s appointment as Chancellor, aligns perfectly with the university’s mission and vision of educating Christ-centred leaders who will transform God’s people and the world. AIU is dedicated to cultivating faith, transformation, excellence, leadership, and innovation.
Dr. M.O. Matlhaope, hails from Botswana, and is a highly respected figure in the field of practical theology and human development. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Practical Theology from North West University, South Africa, and has conducted research at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. Additionally, Dr. Matlhaope has made significant contributions in his home country among the evangelical fraternity as well as the broader church community. Highlights of his career, includes having been a member of Presidential Task Team (PTT) that crafted the country’s long-term Vision 2036, which guides the country to its brighter future.
As a continental body, AEA hopes that through its Secretary General, AIU will become a university of choice for the whole continent. AIU looks forward to the exciting opportunities, that lie ahead on its innovative programs and under its new Chancellor. AEA looks forward under the collective wisdom, unity and prayers of all evangelicals in the continent and beyond, for the “Africa God Wants”.
